Remington 700 Deer Hunting Rifle

The Remington 700 is one of the most popular deer hunting rifles of all time. Introduced in 1962, it has a long and venerable, history with a great reputation for hunting deer. It is a bolt action, rotating bolt with 2 lugs rifle and has all the necessary features of a deer hunting rifle including, an adjustable trigger, detachable or non-detachable box magazine with or without hinged floorplate (depending on the model), and a side-mounted thumb safety. There are also left handed versions available. The stock also had a great design and handles recoil well.

But why is it so popular as a deer hunting rifle? The Remington is reliable and extremely acurrate right out of the box. Its performance has been so amazing that the military and police have adatpted it for there high performance, high stress purposes.

It comes in multiple barrel lengths, 22″ to 26″, and has been available in a wide variety of calibers, including 243 Win, 25-06 Remington, 270 Win, 7mm-08 Remington, 7mm Remington Mag, 7mm Remington Ultra Mag, 30-06 Springfield, 300 Win Mag, 300 Remington Ultra Mag, and 35 Whelen. These options give it a good balance between short range hunting in brush and swamps and long range hunting in open areas. The 7MM, .308, or .30-06 caliber rounds are some of the most common chamberings and are ideal for deer hunting.

There are two models that would be an excellent first deer hunting rifle the: CDL, BDL. Both have the classic styling of the original model. They are also lighter than some of the heaver rifles are are much easier to carry around. The LSS is an even lighter version of the CDL and BDL. Its wood stocks and steel parts have been replaced with synthetic and stainless steel.

They typically run between $600-$700 new but since so many have been maufactured, you’ll probably find a good condition rifle for sale for even less in the classifieds or at a pawn shop.
